AC Capacitor Fault — Start / Run Capacitor Diagnosis
Likely causes
Check capacitance and physical condition
Check: Measure capacitance (LCR or multimeter cap mode). Within ±6% of rated μF = OK. Bulging/oil leak/burst = replace immediately. Rated voltage per manual. Discharge residual voltage with insulated screwdriver (shock hazard). Located on compressor and outdoor fan motor.
What to do: Cut power, discharge residual voltage across terminals with insulated screwdriver. Measure capacitance (LCR or multimeter cap mode). Within ±6% of rated = OK. Replace immediately if bulging/oil leak/burst. Use same rating (μF, V). After replace, run 5-min test and verify compressor/fan normal operation.
Capacitor = commonly degrades after 2–3 years. Recommend pre-season check. Cheap part ($10–30) but failure can damage compressor/fan motor. Hot Korean summers cause spikes in failures.
All 565 cases work offline in R-Pro, with error codes for 62 brands and P-T data for 108 refrigerants.
