AC New Install — Outdoor Unit Mounting (Ground, Wall Bracket, Rooftop)
Likely causes
Step 1 — Choose mount type and apply anti-vibration pads / fasteners
Check: Ground = concrete pad (≥100 mm thick) + 4 rubber anti-vibration pads. Wall bracket = 4 anchors into concrete exterior (never drywall/cladding alone). Rooftop = non-penetrating pads on waterproofing or H-beam. Rooftop wind load = 7–10 kPa rated. Korean high-wind zones (Jeju/west coast) = additional tie-down wires.
What to do: Ground = pour concrete pad, install 4 rubber anti-vibration pads + 4 anchors. Wall = 4 anchors into concrete exterior (18–22 ft·lb torque). Rooftop = non-penetrating pads or H-beam. Korean high-wind zones (Jeju/west coast) = add tie-down wires. After install, verify 7–10 kPa wind-load rating.
Outdoor unit vibration = #1 cause of neighbor complaints. Anti-vibration pads + bracket rigidity + avoiding wall resonance = all three needed. Penetrating rooftop waterproofing risks future leak disputes — prefer non-penetrating mounts. Korean apartments require building manager approval for exterior wall mounts.
