AC Refrigerant Recovery Procedure (EPA 608 / Korean MOE Certified)
Likely causes
Prepare recovery machine, cylinder, certified technician
Check: Only certified technicians (EPA 608 or Korean MOE refrigerant). Recovery machine: certified + operational. Recovery cylinder: same refrigerant (R-32/R-410A/R-22) + <80% full. Recovery hoses = short, direct. Vacuum and manifold gauges required.
What to do: Recovery steps: 1) Weigh and record cylinder. 2) Compressor OFF. 3) Connect recovery machine→cylinder→manifold→system. 4) Run until system pressure 0 → 30 min additional to vaporize moisture. 5) Re-weigh cylinder (recovery amount). 6) Self-clean recovery machine. Recovery volume must be logged (large facilities report to government).
Venting refrigerant = criminal under Korean MOE and US EPA (air pollution). Recovery mandatory. R-22 fully banned in Korea by 2030 (Montreal Protocol). Transition to R-32 and R-454B underway.
