AC Weak Cooling — Outdoor Condenser Coil Fouling

Likely causes

Condensing pressure rise — leaves, dust, sandstorm, oily film, bent fins

Check: Inspect condenser fin face for leaves/dust. At 30°C ambient, condensing pressure normally <27 bar (R-410A); higher suggests fouling. Abnormally high discharge pressure + subcooling. Check environment: vegetation, beach (salt), construction (dust), kitchen (grease). Fin damage = bent aluminum reduces airflow.

What to do: Cleaning: power OFF + breaker OFF → soft brush + vacuum (leaves/dust) → spray coil cleaner (alkaline or acid per manual) → 5 min dwell → rinse with hose (low pressure). Fin comb to straighten bent fins. Never use high-pressure washer = damages fins. Recommended 1–2× per year (quarterly near coast/factories).

1 year without cleaning = 20–30% efficiency loss + reduced compressor life. Korean spring sandstorms/fall leaves = mandatory pre-season inspection. Alkaline cleaner = general dust; acidic = sand/metal oxide — requires ventilation + PPE.
