Bird Nest / Wasp Nest in Outdoor Unit — Safe Removal & Prevention
Likely causes
Vent blocked / fan damaged / electrical damage
Check: Korea common May-Sep (swallows, sparrows, wasps). Symptoms: ① abnormal noise/odor. ② HP trip (airflow blocked). ③ Fan blade tangled with nest feathers/cracked. ④ PCB corroded by bird droppings (acidic). Check: power OFF, remove grill, inspect inside. Wasp nest: grey paper-like, small hole, buzzing inside.
What to do: **Bird nest**: Korean Wildlife Act protects swallows/sparrows. If eggs/chicks present, wait for fledging. Remove empty nest only, then clean/disinfect grill. **Wasps**: call 119 (free fire dept). Don't DIY/spray near PCB (fire risk). **Prevention**: grill mesh (≤5mm, not airflow blocking), reflective tape, sound deterrent device.
