Condensate Pump Noise & Failure — Vibration/Backflow/Diagnosis
Likely causes
Pump impeller / float / check valve / power circuit
Check: Typical: ① humming/clicking (impeller wear/debris). ② Pump runs but no drainage (check valve stuck, hose kinked). ③ Leaking water (ceiling indoor leak report). ④ Pump won't run (float stuck, power, capacitor). Test: fill tray, lift float → pump should run. Multimeter pump coil (~200-500Ω, ∞=open).
What to do: Remove impeller debris: open case, dust/mold (common after 3 yr). Soak 1:1 vinegar/water 30 min, wash. Stuck check valve: clean or replace (Sauermann SI-30 compatible). Hose kink: re-route with curve radius ≥50mm. Power/cap: if winding damaged, replace whole pump (≈₩30-50k). Verify head/flow (1m, 5L/h standard).
Condensate pump is essential when ceiling unit can't drain by gravity. Standard: head 1m, flow 5L/h. 'Water drips from AC' complaint = #1 suspect pump. Locate pump (indoor side/above ceiling/by drain pan). Sound ≤30dB normal, >40dB suggests replace. Yearly pre-season tray clean recommended.
