Oil Pressure Trip / Low Oil Level
Likely causes
Oil lost along with refrigerant during leak
Check: Check oil level via sight glass — below minimum mark indicates oil loss. Inspect entire system with refrigerant leak detector to locate leak
What to do: Repair refrigerant leak → evacuate → recharge refrigerant → top up oil to specified level (must use manufacturer-specified oil; incompatible oil prohibited)
Faulty oil separator — oil circulating through the system
Check: Check oil separator outlet pipe temperature — overheating indicates excess oil mixed with refrigerant. Observe gradual oil level decrease and oil traces on refrigerant piping
What to do: Inspect and replace oil separator. Recommend replacing core filter simultaneously. Consider oil flushing of refrigerant circuit
Refrigerant flooding — liquid refrigerant migrates into crankcase during standstill
Check: Check for oil foaming and abnormal noise immediately after startup — refrigerant contamination causes white foamy oil. Verify crankcase heater operation (heater burnout means no operation below 12°C)
What to do: Replace crankcase heater (mandatory in environments below 12°C). Establish 2+ hour pre-start heater operation procedure. Replace oil
Clogged oil filter
Check: Measure oil filter differential pressure — schedule replacement at ΔP 0.10 MPa, replace immediately if >0.15 MPa. Check cumulative operating hours (2,000-hour benchmark)
What to do: Replace oil when replacing filter → after replacement, remove air via purge valve → confirm oil level (midpoint of sight glass). Separately inspect bearing wear if excessive metal particles found
Crankcase heater must operate below 12°C ambient. When topping up after oil loss, always use manufacturer-specified oil type — mixing prohibited.
