Outdoor Cabinet Resonance — Low-Speed Vibration/Noise Fix
Likely causes
Compressor/fan RPM matches cabinet natural frequency
Check: Vibration/noise only at inverter low-speed 30-50Hz (gone at full/stop). Locate: press cabinet side panel by hand → noise stops = resonance confirmed. Not compressor rubber mount damage (separate). Not fan blade crack (separate). Common on residential outdoor 7-13py (Korean rating) units, year 1-3.
What to do: ① Magnetic vibration damper (0.8mm steel cabinet, magnetic attach). ② Butyl/damping tape inside side panel in X pattern. ③ DIY: stick 0.5kg magnet weight on cabinet (alters natural freq). ④ Add sponge 50T pad under chassis (vibration absorption). Major brands offer firmware RPM-avoid update (request via service). Measure V/H/Z axes — >4 mm/s abnormal.
Resonance ≠ general vibration (RPM-specific). Tell user 'listen for 5 min, this is normal'. Pension/rural rooftops = resonance disputes common. 1 trip can solve with magnet damper + butyl tape kit (under ₩100k). LG firmware service code 'P_M', Samsung 'resonance avoid' DIP. Only certified techs can change firmware.
All 565 cases work offline in R-Pro, with error codes for 62 brands and P-T data for 108 refrigerants.
