Package Coil Fin Corrosion — Coastal/Industrial Aluminum Damage

Likely causes

Identify environmental factor (salt, acid rain, SO₂, NH₃)

Check: Visual fin check = white powder/brown discoloration/holes = corrosion in progress. Korean coasts (East/West/South) = salt-rich, fin lifespan 3–5 years. Near steel/chemical plants = SO₂/NH₃ exposure. >30% corrosion = >25% efficiency drop. Measure damage with fin comb.

What to do: Corrosion >30% = recommend coil replacement. <30% = corrosion remover + protective coating. New installs in coastal/industrial = use corrosion-resistant fins (E-coating, blue fin, gold fin) — extra USD 300–500. Apply protective coating right after install. Inspect visually every 5 years.

Field tip

For coastal/industrial install = recommend corrosion-resistant fins (E-coating, blue fin, gold fin) — extra USD 300–500. Apply protective coating after install. Korean zones: East/West coasts, Incheon, Yeosu, Ulsan. Educate user.
