Post-Install Commissioning — 10-min Run, Pressure, ΔT Check
Likely causes
6-step standard commissioning
Check: ① Insulation test before power (Megger 500V, ≥1MΩ). ② Vacuum residual (-100.7 kPa, ≤500 micron). ③ Attach manifold gauge (HP/LP). ④ Run 10 min for stabilization. ⑤ R-410A target: LP 100-120 psi, HP 350-400 psi (35°C ambient). ⑥ Indoor supply/return ΔT 8-12°C. If short, suspect refrigerant/air/coil block.
What to do: ΔT<8°C: undercharge (LP<80 psi) — leak check then charge. ΔT>14°C: airflow short (filter, blower, coil). HP>450 psi: condenser airflow or air mixed in. LP suction <-5°C: TXV/EEV blocked. Record 6 readings on commissioning sheet with customer signature.
Attach photos of gauge/thermometer to the commissioning sheet. Showing the customer the pressure values prevents future service disputes. Record ambient (outdoor/indoor temp, humidity). Following the HVAC technician licensing practical exam procedure is safe.
