Precision AC Humidifier Fault — IR, Steam, Spray Types
Likely causes
Identify fault by type (IR, steam, spray, electrode)
Check: IR humidifier = lamp open, transformer fault. Steam (electric heated) = heater element, temp control, auto drain. Electrode humidifier = needs water conductivity; low → won't humidify; calcium/mineral buildup → periodic clean. Spray = pump/nozzle clog. Server room = 50–60% RH required (typical setpoint 50%).
What to do: Per type: IR = replace lamp/transformer. Steam = measure heater resistance and replace, check auto drain. Electrode = measure water conductivity + descale (calcium). Spray = clean pump/nozzle. Run 30 min and verify RH rises to setpoint (50%).
Server rooms, museums, semiconductor plants = strict 50% RH. Humidifier failure = notify customer + suggest portable humidifier. Dispatch = urgent (server damage/semiconductor ESD). Korean facilities = Kakao DC, NAVER, Samsung etc. all standardized.
