Belt Slip / Break — Fan Stops
Likely causes
V-belt elongation or wear causing slip — sag exceeds 20 mm
Check: Measure belt mid-span sag — 10–15 mm normal, above 20 mm = replace immediately; check for cracks and hardening
What to do: Confirm belt cut/crack then replace with identical spec → adjust tensioner to 10–15 mm deflection → re-check tension after 1 hour operation
Pulley misalignment — causes edge wear
Check: Check pulley alignment with straight edge — eccentricity within 0.5 mm; check belt edge wear pattern
What to do: Correct eccentricity (within 0.5 mm) → replace pulley if groove wear exceeds 2 mm → replace all belts as a set for multi-belt drives
Always replace belts in matched sets: on multi-belt drives, if one breaks, replace both to keep wear balanced.
