Likely causes

Door frame heater open circuit — actual heat output below rated 20–40 W/m

Check: Measure resistance with multimeter — normal range 50–200 Ω for freezer frame heater; replace if infinite. Apply rated voltage (bypass) and verify heat output

What to do: Replace heater. Review frame heater output for operation below −10°C ambient — upgrade to 40 W/m class if needed. Emergency fix: wrap door frame in self-amalgamating tape — buys up to 48 hours before full repair

Heater power control circuit failure — timer or thermostat malfunction prevents heater energizing

Check: Verify heater timer ON-time/cycle settings. Confirm thermostat set point is above +5°C. Check control circuit supply voltage

What to do: Readjust timer settings or replace timer. Replace thermostat if faulty. Apply contact cleaner to connectors and re-measure resistance — ≤1 Ω is normal

Heater cable not reconnected after gasket replacement — connector left disconnected during service

Check: Check gasket replacement history. Visually inspect heater connector connection

What to do: Reconnect connector and verify heater heat output. Ice Bridge removal: use hot towel or heat gun at 60–70°C gradually — do not force removal when cold (frame distortion risk)
