Drift Eliminator Damage

Likely causes

PVC panels brittle and cracked from long-term UV and ozone exposure

Check: Visually inspect all panels — check for cracks, dislodgment, and deformation; check water droplet carryover around tower (excessive drift = replace panels)

What to do: Immediately replace cracked/dislodged/deformed panels (same-spec PVC) → inspect all retaining clips and install missing ones → recommend annual removal, inspection, cleaning, and reinstallation of all panels

Panels damaged by direct high-pressure wash or excessive scale causing increased airflow resistance and damage

Check: Check cleaning method — whether high-pressure nozzle aimed perpendicularly at panels; measure scale thickness and check for increased airflow resistance

What to do: Replace damaged panels → set cleaning rules: maintain high-pressure washer at least 30 cm away, never aim perpendicularly → descale: spray 5% HCl, wait 10 min, rinse with low-pressure water (wear protective gloves)

Field tip

Damaged drift eliminators increase water droplet carryover, raising both building corrosion and Legionella transmission risks. Replace immediately upon discovery.
