Filter Drier Moisture Saturation

Likely causes

Refrigerant lines left open without nitrogen blanket → ambient humidity ingress

Check: Check sight glass moisture indicator: green (normal) → yellow (moisture saturated)

What to do: Replace drier immediately → two-stage deep vacuum → recharge → verify indicator returns to green after 1–2 hours of operation

Insufficient vacuum pull (above 500 micron) → residual moisture not removed

Check: Check final vacuum with gauge — if above 500 micron or vacuum fails to hold, re-evacuation needed

What to do: Two-stage deep vacuum: pull to 1,000 micron → isolate pump 30 min → pull again to ≤500 micron

System left open more than 15 minutes after opening → large amount of ambient humidity ingress

Check: Review last work record — check if system was open for more than 15 minutes, and if work was done in rain or humidity >80%

What to do: Replace drier → always nitrogen-blanket system at 0.1 MPa during any piping work

Field tip

Sight glass moisture indicator: green = OK, yellow = moisture saturated. Replace drier immediately on yellow — continued operation risks expansion valve ice blockage.
