Outdoor Fan Blade Ice Imbalance → Vibration 4 mm/s or Above

Likely causes

Ice accumulation on one fan blade → weight imbalance

Check: Stop outdoor unit and visually inspect blades — check ice, contamination, deformation, breakage; if ice: stop → natural defrost or lukewarm water → restart and re-measure vibration

What to do: Remove ice and re-measure vibration (target: 4 mm/s → below 2 mm/s); replace full blade set if deformed or broken; consider defrost heater or fan guard heat wire if ice recurs

Blade deformation or foreign matter adhesion → dynamic imbalance

Check: Clean all blade foreign matter (dust, mud) and re-measure vibration; check fan hub key wear (blade position shifts during rotation); suspect motor shaft eccentricity → listen for bearing noise

What to do: Replace full blade set and verify dynamic balance (attach vibration meter to fan shaft, target below 2.5 mm/s at 1,000 RPM); replace key if hub key worn, or replace entire fan unit

Field tip

If ice is the cause, vibration disappears immediately after defrost — recurrence suggests defrost cycle setting fault.
