Rotary Compressor Vane Spring Failure — Incomplete Suction and Volumetric Efficiency Drop
Likely causes
Vane spring metal fatigue failure — operating 10,000~20,000 hours, spring load below 0.3~0.5N spec
Check: Suspect first when volumetric efficiency <75% + suction pressure normal but cooling capacity reduced. Disassemble and measure vane spring with vernier caliper (free length within ±5% of spec). Measure vane slot clearance: normal 0.01~0.02 mm
What to do: Replace vane spring → apply refrigeration oil (VG32~46) to slot before inserting → if vane slot clearance exceeds 0.05 mm, replace vane and cylinder together → pull vacuum to ≤500μmHg then recharge
Insufficient oil supply — dry friction between vane and cylinder overloads spring
Check: Check oil sight glass level (1/2~3/4 is normal). Verify oil separator is clean
What to do: Top up oil and clean oil separator → confirm oil level at sight glass 1/2~3/4 before restarting
Vane spring failure progresses gradually — the key clue is volumetric efficiency <75% + normal suction pressure + reduced cooling capacity. Use 0.05mm clearance as criterion for cylinder reboring.
