Air Curtain Weakening

Likely causes

Air curtain fan motor running slow or stopped

Check: Measure air curtain outlet airspeed — normal 2.5~3.5 m/s; below 1.5 m/s = fan failure or coil icing

What to do: Replace fan motor; if coil is iced, inspect defrost cycle and manually defrost

Foreign object blocking outlet/inlet

Check: Visually inspect outlet grille — product plastic/paper caught, dust blockage; measure outlet airspeed with anemometer

What to do: Remove foreign objects and clean grille; instruct staff to keep merchandise away from air curtain line

Excessive air curtain load from not using night cover

Check: Check if night cover is used outside business hours — not using increases energy 30~40% and overloads air curtain

What to do: Instruct use of night cover (22:00~07:00 or after business close); replace damaged night cover

High ambient temperature — air curtain penetration reduced

Check: Measure store temperature — above 27°C sharply reduces air curtain efficiency; also check if air conditioning is running

What to do: Adjust store HVAC to 24~25°C; prevent direct ventilation in front of showcase (no direct air conditioner airflow)

Field tip

Air curtain airspeed below 2.5 m/s cannot maintain temperature against ambient heat — an anemometer is an essential field tool
