Door Gasket Aging or Damage
Likely causes
Gasket rubber hardening and cracking — UV and repeated low-temperature exposure
Check: A4 paper test around entire gasket perimeter — sections with no resistance = leak point; visually check for hardening and cracking
What to do: Replace gasket: cut corners at 45°, use dedicated adhesive → re-verify with A4 test → hinge bolt torque 15–20 N·m
Worn door hinge — door sag causes uneven gasket compression
Check: Visually check door sag when opened — more than 5mm sag indicates faulty hinge; check hinge bolt looseness
What to do: Retighten hinge bolts → replace severely worn hinges → re-verify door sag and even gasket compression after replacement
Magnetic gasket reduced magnetic force — reduced sealing at low temperature
Check: Measure magnetic gasket pull force: standard ≥500g — replace if below standard; especially check for operation below -10°C ambient
What to do: Replace magnetic gasket — lifespan 2–3 years, recommend replacement before winter → re-measure magnetic force after replacement → emergency: temporarily apply butyl tape
Gasket lifespan 2–3 years — magnetic type loses compression force rapidly below -10°C ambient, so always perform A4 test before each winter season.
