Double-Pane Glass Condensation (Internal Frost in Insulated Glazing)

Likely causes

Insulated glass unit seal failure — outside air infiltration

Check: Visually inspect glass panel edge sealing material — check for cracks or detachment; if internal condensation reappears after 24 hours = seal failure

What to do: Complete replacement of double-pane glass panel required (cannot be repaired on-site); request replacement from manufacturer or glass specialist; temporary measure: apply heater tape to outer edge

Double-pane glass heater wire break — anti-condensation not operating

Check: Measure glass edge heater wire resistance — normal value varies by manufacturer; open circuit = break; verify heater operation by measuring glass surface temperature

What to do: Panel replacement is unavoidable when heater wire breaks; temporary external heater tape — prolonged use may worsen internal condensation

Field tip

Internal condensation in double-pane glass cannot be repaired on-site — panel replacement is the only solution; internal frost recurrence test: clean then monitor for 24 hours
