Evaporator Plate Scale Accumulation
Likely causes
High-hardness water — calcium carbonate precipitation
Check: Measure raw water TDS — above 500 ppm = high hardness; measure scale thickness on evaporator plate surface (replace if above 2mm)
What to do: Circulate nickel-safe descaler 1:16 for 1 hour → rinse 3 times; replace plate if above 2mm; install RO filter to prevent recurrence
Cleaning neglected — scale hardened thick
Check: Check last cleaning date — if over 6 months, heavy scale likely; visually inspect plate surface to assess scale color and thickness
What to do: Schedule descaling every 6 months; yellow to brown scale requires softening with acid cleaner before removal; replacement threshold 2mm
Cleaner residue — incomplete neutralization
Check: Check odor/taste of first ice batch after cleaning — acidic taste = cleaner residue present
What to do: Rinse 3+ more times with clean water and retest; can add neutralizer (baking soda dilution) rinse between cycles
The 2mm scale threshold is absolute — above this cannot be recovered by cleaning; replacement required; regular 6-month cleaning prevents reaching this threshold
All 565 cases work offline in R-Pro, with error codes for 62 brands and P-T data for 108 refrigerants.
