Insufficient Ice Production
Likely causes
Low water pressure
Check: Measure supply pressure with gauge — normal 1.4~2.5 bar; below 0.7 bar = low pressure
What to do: Adjust pressure reducing valve or increase pipe diameter; clean filter and recheck
Refrigerant shortage
Check: Check R-404A suction pressure — normal 0.37 MPa (@-15°C saturation); low = suspect leak
What to do: Check all joints with leak detector; repair leak → vacuum 30 min → recharge to spec
Condenser fin blockage
Check: Measure condensing pressure — R-404A normal ~1.6 MPa @35°C; above 2.0 MPa = high-pressure excess
What to do: Spray fin cleaner then reverse-flush with water; ensure minimum 15cm clearance around condenser
Water basin scale buildup
Check: Visually inspect basin walls and spray nozzles — white deposits >1mm indicate reduced flow
What to do: Circulate nickel-safe descaler 1:16 dilution for 1 hour → rinse 3 times with clean water
High incoming water temperature
Check: Measure incoming water temperature — recommended 10~20°C; above 25°C extends freeze cycle and reduces output
What to do: Add cooling coil or insulate supply line from heat sources; improve machine room ventilation
Expansion valve malfunction
Check: Measure evaporator inlet-outlet temperature difference — normal 8~12°C; below 5°C = suspect over/under feeding
What to do: Screw-type: adjust superheat to 4~6°C; electronic EEV: verify parameters then replace if faulty
Maintaining TDS 50~150 ppm is a prerequisite for optimal ice production — poor water quality alone can reduce output by 30%
