GPS / Remote Monitoring Communication Loss

Likely causes

Unstable vehicle power — voltage drops below 6V during refrigeration startup causing repeated communication module restarts

Check: Measure communication module supply voltage after ignition: normal 11–14.4V DC — record minimum during refrigeration startup and check if below 6V

What to do: Add battery isolation relay or DC-DC converter → dedicate separate power line for communication module → compare communication loss timestamps with refrigeration startup times

Physical damage to GPS/LTE antenna or poor connection

Check: Visually inspect GPS/LTE antenna cable connector → check antenna for cracks or breaks → verify antenna is not buried inside metal vehicle structure

What to do: Detach and reattach antenna cable connector → replace damaged antenna → relocate antenna to exposed position on vehicle roof exterior (away from metal structures)

SIM card dislodged or data plan expired

Check: Check SIM card insertion status → verify data plan is active → check APN setting accuracy

What to do: Re-insert SIM card → renew data plan → reconfirm APN settings and update firmware to latest version

Field tip

If communication loss timestamps match refrigeration unit startup times, voltage drop is the cause — resolve by adding a battery isolation relay or DC-DC converter.
