Ice Bridging in Storage Bin
Likely causes
Bin temperature too low (below 5°C)
Check: Measure bin interior temperature — normal 5~10°C; below 5°C = bridging condition
What to do: Adjust evaporator temperature; repair insulation failure between bin and ice-making section
Bin gasket damage — outside air infiltration
Check: 0.76mm paper (card) test — insert paper around entire gasket perimeter; if it pulls out without resistance = gasket failed
What to do: Replace all 4 sides of gasket (partial replacement causes recurrence); reconfirm with paper test after replacement
Residual moisture refreezing on ice after harvest
Check: Check for water droplets at bin top immediately after harvest — excessive dripping = harvest water management issue
What to do: Clean drain pan; verify drainage path after harvest; confirm drain heater operating normally
Bin overfill (ice overload)
Check: Check bin fill level — above 80% fill increases bridging risk; inspect full-bin sensor trigger point
What to do: Adjust full-bin sensor sensitivity (stop earlier); adjust ice-making cycle to match consumption rate
Bridging is fundamentally a temperature problem (below 5°C) — measure bin temperature first; gasket test requires 0.76mm paper test on all 4 sides
