Ice Melting in Storage Bin
Likely causes
Bin gasket damaged — ambient/warm air infiltration
Check: 0.76mm paper test — perform on all 4 sides; any section that pulls out without resistance = damaged gasket area
What to do: Replace all 4-side gasket; partial replacement causes recurrence; confirm sealing with paper test after replacement
Bin insulation damaged
Check: Check bin exterior wall for dew point — condensation in specific area = suspected insulation damage; scan exterior wall temperature with IR thermometer
What to do: Identify damaged area and arrange insulation repair with manufacturer; partial repair with polyurethane foam is possible
Excessive heat from internal LED lighting
Check: Measure temperature near LED lights — above 50°C on light surface = excessive heat; check for faulty LED driver or non-spec LED replacement
What to do: Replace with spec LED; verify driver output; consider relocating LED lighting outside bin if possible
P/U trap failure — cold air loss
Check: Check drain P/U trap condition — if dry or broken, outside air back-flows through drain pipe; if warm air is felt entering at drain hole, trap failure
What to do: Add water to trap or replace if broken; simultaneously check that drain pipe has no reverse slope
Ice melting in bin = gasket (50%) + P/U trap (20%) + insulation (20%) + lighting (10%) — inspect in this order
