Likely causes

Hoshizaki E1 — freeze time exceeded (cooling failure)

Check: Simultaneously check condenser contamination and refrigerant pressure — E1 is typically caused by condenser fouling (high-head) or refrigerant shortage

What to do: Clean condenser fins; if refrigerant low, repair leak then recharge; reset error after root cause fix

Hoshizaki E2 — harvest time exceeded (ice release failure)

Check: Check evaporator temperature during harvest — must reach +8°C; if not, hot gas valve failure

What to do: Measure hot gas solenoid coil resistance (normal 10~30Ω) then replace; check hot gas piping for blockage

Manitowoc 2A — extended harvest cycle

Check: Measure harvest cycle duration — 2A triggered when exceeds 2~4 min normal; check cooling water temperature and condenser condition

What to do: Clean condenser; for water-cooled, check cooling water flow rate; inspect hot gas valve

Manitowoc 2L — extended freeze cycle

Check: Measure freeze cycle — 2L triggered above 12~18 min normal; check low pressure — R-404A -15°C saturation 0.37 MPa; below = refrigerant low

What to do: Clean condenser then recheck high pressure; repair refrigerant leak and recharge if low

Ice-O-Matic E3/E5 — high-pressure trip / freeze delay

Check: E3=high-pressure switch trip; E5=freeze time exceeded; check discharge pressure with high-pressure gauge — R-404A @40°C normal 1.6 MPa, above 2.2 MPa = E3

What to do: Clean condenser fins + verify fan operation; reset E3 and restart; full refrigeration system inspection if recurring
