Water Basin/Circulation Pump Slime Contamination
Likely causes
Slime film formed from long-term cleaning neglect
Check: Rub basin interior wall with finger to check stickiness — sticky = slime film formed; also check for odor
What to do: Circulate nickel-safe cleaner 1:16~1:32 for 1 hour → rinse 3 times; schedule preventive cleaning every 3 months
Poor water quality — creating microbial growth environment
Check: TDS measurement — above 300 ppm accelerates microbial growth; also check pH range 6.5~7.5
What to do: Install RO filter or replace cartridge; consider adding silver-ion antibacterial filter to piping
Circulation pump impeller slime coating — flow reduction
Check: Measure basin circulation flow or pump current — slime-coated impeller causes reduced flow and increased current
What to do: Disassemble and clean impeller with acid cleaner; if cause is irregular maintenance, schedule cleaning every 3 months
Always use nickel-safe cleaner for slime removal — regular bleach (chlorine) corrodes metal; 1:16 ratio, 1 hour circulation + 3 rinses is the standard
